Church Council

The Church Council is the “governing body” of our congregation. The members are elected or confirmed by the congregation annually, and normally spend a three-year term on Council.  Council has some specific responsibilities to the Regional and General Councils of the United Church.

Our job is to be the “executive” and coordinating body for the congregation. Much of the good work of this congregation is done by the various committees and individuals following their own passions and interests, embodying Jesus’ call to be salt and light in the world. Council takes care of congregational-level matters like annual meetings, coordinates major events, and provides leadership, along with the minister to meet the ministry plan of the congregation.

All members of Council must be members of the Church and Council cannot meet unless the minister is present.
