Environment

Institutionally, our principal actions have been to reduce our heating demands and, as much as feasible, reduce our GHG emissions. We have also, from time to time, encouraged our congregation members to do likewise. Externally, we have advocated for a strengthening of territorial and municipal commitments to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

The property committee has taken these principles to heart and has refitted our building with energy efficient lights, appliances and a new energy efficient heating project.

Whitehorse United Church also is a signatory to the Yukon Climate Emergency Declaration as set out by the Council of Canadians Yukon Chapter https://www.cofcyukon.org/declaration.
