Worship Committee
The Worship Committee provides the resources which support the Minister in leading the congregation in worship. These resources might include seasonal artworks, candles, thematic displays, communion elements and most importantly (in the opinion of this congregation) music. The committee is responsible for contracts with the organist and choir director.
Together with the Minister, the committee reviews policies concerning weddings, baptisms and funerals. The committee meets monthly to give feedback to the Minister on past services and to plan future services.
The goal of the committee’s work is to make sure that the message of God’s love is clearly presented in words, music and art respecting the needs and styles of this Northern Canadian United Church congregation and the local culture.
As well as the traditional Sunday morning service, we offer other opportunities for worship such as mid week noon hour services of silence and music, wild church services held in the outdoors, an annual “celebration of swans” service in the spring, a yearly campfire service at Braeburn Camp (an hour outside the city), and walking worship in the summer.
